Pastor Gerald W. Smith is a native of Westmoreland County. He is the son of the late Henry T. Smith and Carrie M. Smith of Sandy Point, Virginia and is next to the youngest born to this union. He has seven siblings.
He received his early introduction to the faith in Hackett’s Hill now known as New Jerusalem under Pastor Albert Holmes. He is a graduate of the public school system of Westmoreland County. He served 18 years in the U.S. Army.
Pastor Smith has been married to his high school sweetheart for over 21 years. From this union, they were blessed with two children, Danica and Keyanna.
Pastor accepted the call from God to preach under the leadership of Bishop Claude M. Tate, Jr. He was licensed in 1998 and ordained in 2002. He is a graduate of the Faith Bible Institute. He also took courses in Biblical Studies under the late Dr. T. W. Morris of the Lynchburg University in Burgess, Virginia.
In 2007 the Lord called Rev. Smith to Pastor New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Through the Holy Spirit and Grace of God, he has been the humble servant of God’s people for over 10 years. In 2016 Pastor Smith launched the "Kingdom Experience" radio broadcast on World Power Gospel Radio. The broadcast reaches the nations of the world, touching thousands every Thursday at 3:30 p.m. with empowering kingdom principles. His first television program was recorded in December 2017 to further the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pastor Smith is a pioneer, a builder and a great visionary.
